Gig Review – Zero Cipher – 15/02/06

Zero Cipher
+ RSJ, Silent Scream and The Randoms.
Upstairs & The Garage.

This was a fun gig. It was in a small venue above the London venue The Garage and it was be no means packed. It all kicked off at about 8 with The Randoms. Indie rock but enjoyable I could hear the old Brit pop Oasis et al, some of the newer stuff Franz Ferdinand etc but also Weezer. I’d see them again as a support act but wouldn’t buy a CD or nothing. Silent Scream, what can I say? Well they have youth on their side anyway and maybe they could take a cue from their name and stop playing. They all could play(I’m pretty sure) they just couldn’t do it together. Honestly I now know what cacophony really MEANS. So after that RSJ blew the cobwebs away. From York and containing at least one member of Tung who I saw many moons ago with The Bloodhound Gang, they rocked. Think Madman Is Absolute, Residual Effect or Raging Speedhorn on their second album and you get an idea just great. I get to see them again supporting The Berzerker with Madman Is Absolute and Happy Face looking forward to that, will check them out on myspace and maybe buy a CD at that gig.
Zero Cipher didn’t make it on to the stage till 10:30 and were off by 11. Half an hour but a pretty powerful one. I don’t think they would have gained any new fans but with “Stupid People…”, “Death Of A Pornstar”, “Class A Ladykiller” a Kinks cover and a Depeche Mode cover they definitely pleased existing fans. A good gig but I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to see them again but we’ll see.

Later Days,
Halo.

  1. Yeah was checking out a theme I downloaded but it was pretty cack. Didn’t seperate the links into the categories, had page links which didn’t look to see what pages I had. It did look nice but getting my cartoon alter ego in there may have been an issue. I’m looking for a new theme that looks different but they all look so similar it’s fucked!

  2. wow, man that was an incredible review. It’s rare you come across something as honest and engaging. Keep up the good work.
