Gig Review – Foo Fighters – 17/06/06 – Hyde Park

Support:
Juliette & The Licks
Angels & Airwaves
Motorhead
Queens Of The Stone Age

Look at the lineup!!! Beside the AVA(apparently that’s how the kids type Angels & Airwaves) hiccup that’s great. Sadly we missed Juliette as there was a half hour queue to collect tickets(oh and wait till I scan up the ticket, it looks great). Hyde Park actually works well as a venue, provided you are in the Inner Circle like Sarah and I were so we could see the acts. We were half an hour on the tube from home, the weather was great and the food, merch et al was well organised, pity we didn’t find the real ale tent till near the end and we had to get back into the front section for Foos.

AVA sucked, terrible, awful, crap.

Motorhead were Motorhead except maybe not as loud as they could be due to restrictions.

QOTSA are such a genius act and at times there were flashes during this show but the sound was atrocious mostly but they soldiered on. I enjoyed it when the songs were recognisible but really looking forward to when they actually play club dates again, the last lot in Europe could have been 2002.

Foo Fighters my second Foos show in a week, third gig this week and 9th Foos show, someday I will hit double digits for a single band. So the last one was an acoustic show and this was a ROCK show with capital letters. No acoustic songs unless you include Everlong at the end. This show was played at maximum speed all the time and highlights include Shake Your Blood with Lemmy, Tie Your Mother Down with Roger Taylor and Brian May and THE WHOLE SHOW. This was a big gig in a field in central London, how bad does that sound? In the end it was a great day out and disappointed that the other line ups in Hyde Park were so bad.

Later Days,
Halo
