From a Gig Review post:

Support:
Serj Tankian

This is not a mistake, this is the same day as the Imperial Leisure gig. We knew they’d be finished by 7:30 so we decided to go to both :-). This obviously means we missed the support but it was only Serj Tankian who’s old day job SOAD haven’t released anything of worth since 2001 so meh.

I got these tickets at the last minute from someone on Scarlet Mist as I had to go, I haven’t missed a Foos tour since 200 and have seen them 11 times now. Now I had heard that section 4 was not for those with a fear of heights and when I got the tickets they were for that section, but then how bad could it be? Well let’s put it this way a) we were literally one row from the last row (we were T last row is U) b) we were closer to the rafters than the floor c) the slope the seats were on was practically vertical and d) we could barely see the screens at the back of the stage let alone the performers. Also note Sarah and I are not big fans of heights (read I was freaking out a little it was that steep).

So I’m sitting there and I’m thinking this is going to be crap, seriously this was shaping up crap. However somehow, somehow, David and the boys lived up to the challenge. OK so watching from the gods wasn’t the greatest and, let’s be honest, the new album is cack besides the latest single The Pretender. They did mix it up brilliantly with tracks from their entire back catalogue. When we turned up I noticed the end of the walkway that stuck into the crowd had a bit at the end that looked like no one would be standing on it. Then the cloth over it is pulled out of the way and a stage drops out of the ceiling slowly and the entire band wanders on to it and the kick into the acoustic part of the set. It was a brilliant touch.

Even the crap tracks sound great live when played by these guys. Just like last year Pat Smear was with them as an extra guitarist. Then to top it all of the pulled out Brian May and Roger Taylor to play the Queen track 39. This gig literally had everything you’d expect. It was 2 hours long had songs from every album and they all sounded great, OK so the O2 is massive and not the best place to see a band from the back row but the sound was fantastic and by the end I was smiling like a goon. I may not go see them in the O2 again unless I get standing but I will see them again (despite what Sarah wants :-P).
