Fireland

Back in Dublin to see Sarah and so decided to hang out and go see Dragonforce on the Saturday night. Was nice to be back in a venue I know really well.

We got in early to make sure we saw Fireland. I’ve only heard one track of theirs an unmastered version of Computerised Gods and I liked it a lot. They also said they’d be handing out samplers so didn’t want to miss that :-). Anyway the sauntered on stage and played some seriously good old school power-esque metal but were let down horrifically by the sound. We started behind the sound desk and the sound guy seemed to be trying to make them sound good but wasn’t actually making a difference to the atrocious mix that was going down. So we moved just in case it was good somewhere else. It wasn’t great band, fucking muppets on the sound desk. Got my sampler but didn’t get a chance to put the MP3s on my player before the iMac went AWOL :-/ I’ll put them on soon.

So what about the headline act? I suppose I was here to see them so…. It’s been a while since I’ve seen them in the TBMC and I’ve missed them in London and an apparently poor Dublin show so was a little apprehensive. There was however nothing to be worried about. They were kicking ass and taking names tonight, there was more inter band banter, a lot of slagging but mostly shitloads of killer riffs and solos. They were fun and having fun, smiles a mile wide from me and them. Even Sarah thought it was great and she’s not power metal’s biggest fan. The one problem was the Neanderthal audience. I mean seriously guys yes it is a metal show but that is all. We don’t need circle pits and beat downs at a Heavy Metal show leave that for the Thrash or hardcore shows FFS.

In the end though it was amazing and makes me glad I’ve got tickets for the two upcoming London dates, which are back to back and in the same week as a Maiden show(Birmingham) and two Tenny D shows (which reminds me I better get that album :-?). So yeah go see Dragonforce you won’t regret it 😀

Later days,
Halo.
