Imperial Leisure at Jazz Cafe Aug 2006

Imperial Leisure, Sun, 20 Aug 2006 20:08:01, Jazz Cafe, London, The Event on Last.fm.

From my gig review post:
No support.

First saw this lot at a guerilla gig they did before Uxfest. They just set up their gear and a generator on the side of the street facing into an open air shopping centre type amphitheatre area and they got a lot of attention. They play around London a lot and this was the first gig they were playing we could make and we were in like a shot.

Imperial Leisure are a 10 piece Jazz/Ska/Rock combo. They have a trumpet, trombone, drummer, guitar, bass, DJ, keyboard/samples, three vocalists and a lot of energy. They played for an hour and never let up singing songs about staying in bed, boozing, falling in love with the landlord’s daughter just craziness. The crowd were lapping it up and were in the palm of their hand from the get go. I need to get my hands on the EP (available from iTunes but I aint getting it that way) but you will see a lot more reviews of this band from me, they are animaltastic and I will take any and every chance to see them.

Later Days,
Halo.
