Yndi Halda

Neevr benn in the Water rats before and it took me a while to find, next time I’m off to a new venue I’m printing the map. It is basically a pub with a great little back room where they put on gigs. It is one of those “who are you here to see?” jobs. London at this time was in the grip of a heatwave and tonight was pretty much this peak and inside the vnue was just mental.

Up first(and on when I got there) were Yndi Halda. They’re post-rock and to be honest jaw droppingly good, it has been literally ages since a support band actually made me go “huh? what/who is that?” I grabbed their CD Enjoy Eternal Bliss which is the English tarnslation of their name which is Icelandic though they are form Kent. It is 45mins and three songs it is amazing and gets a proper release soon with a fourth track added, I’ll be the first in the queue.

:Twinzero then bounded onstage, well OK not bounded cause they were up there for 15mins before setting up but they really went off. Karl Middleton is the vocalist who some may know from Earthtone9 and The Blueprint. I have their split with 27 and not much else but the played a 30min set of 3/4 songs and it was fecking great. It had evryting it had the heavy, it had the sublime, it had the intricacy it had the sledgehammer riffs. This was a great show and as one punter mentioned when they announced they ojnly had one song left “That’s bullshit”, they deserved longer but that’s how they cookie crumbles on joint headline tours but then as Karl pointed out “it is a fucking long song” 😀

:Twinzero catch ’em before they split.

Later days,
Halo
