I bought tix for this show mostly for the support. I’ve been a big MIA fan for a few years now and RSJ were really good the last time I caught them at Zero Cipher, so I was really looking forward to this show. Frog Ninja was at this with me again, she’s a big RSJ fan. We got there just after Happy Face had started they were pretty good, french hardcore metal, nothing fabulous. RSJ bounded onto stage and levelled the place they were great, really impressive and I will be following them from now on. The only reason I didn’t grab some merch is the next lot. Madman Is Absolute, from Glasgow, I first saw these guys in late 2002 when they were on a bill with Stand Up Guy, Spindrift from Belfast and GodPlayer another Glasgae band. They rocked that night and their CD Compliance Is Compulsory is really good. They were good, played a lot of new stuff that I didn’t know but still rocking, grabbed their new demo, ripping it to MP3 in a few minutes.
The Bezerker are a black metal band from Australia who up until this tour wore masks GWAR-style. I’m not sure what effect this would have had on their show to be honest they seem quite good but can’t get past the vocals, hate black metal vocals. The music is mental, just heavy and unrelenting with great use of samples. Glad I saw them but only time I’ll see them again is if they’re support or if they have good support.
