Missed the first act on tonight but wasn’t too pushed especially when I got to the gig. The crowd made me feel ill. Talk about fucking identikids. If I didn’t know better I would say that Hot Topic not only was in the UK but was thriving and selling damn haircuts. Am I just getting old? Every kid had the a “shit I cut my fringe at 45 degrees” haircut, trousers above your ankles were optional and what the fuck is this retarded hardcore dancing that looks like your a having a fit? I mean I like to mosh as much as the next guy but flailing around with your fists and feet aimlessly with no control(don’t even try to tell me you had control)? Cockmonkeys.
So anyway then Waterdown started and “Yawn” is all can say talk about poor emo/hardcore maybe this is what screamo is but whatever they were shit. They’re German and on Victory, don’t bother unless your a bed wetting fuck who hates their parents because they picked up you up from Camden yesterday in the Beemer as opposed to the Bentley. Shite.
Johnny Truant eventually sauntered on stage after half nine and were done BEFORE half ten. All I’m getting in this town are half arsed headline slots what is the story. If PSI or PUSA end up being this short I (in the not so immortal words of flavour of the month) predict a riot led by me. Despite this short set it was pretty fucking good. I’m pretty sure it is more or less the set they were doing on the Speedhorn tour, all new stuff except for “I’m the primitologist..”. The blasted through some of the most amazing tracks from the new album and finished with “The Bloodening” which had been advertsied as being with one of their mates who guested on the album recording. When he eventually appeared from the bar it was a riotous end to the gig. I’ll be back but if they don’t lengthen the set and throw in some older stuff I’m not sure about a return after that.
