Gig Review – Brujeria, Underworld, 21/02/07

Pronounced Bru-Herr-Ia, it’s Spanish dontcha’ know. Anyway read this, that is all I knew about this band when I rolled upto The Underworld, late due to the tube, and the place was heaving.

This is the fullest I’ve seen the place ever including a sold out Killswitch Engage date. I pushed my way down on to the floor(just loads of people standing in the way on the stairs and right at the bottom of them) and was well entertained by a storming set of Spanish language tunes. The banter was mostly in Spanish, the lyrics in Spanish I understood nothing but it was intense and fucking brilliant. The entire south/central American population appeared to be at this show, there were Cuban, Columbian and Mexican flags that I could see it was intense.

They have 3 albums and I need to get one, none for sale at the gig which was disappointing. This was, apparently, their first time touring outside the US so I’m not sure if it will be up to me if I ever see ’em again but I would in a heartbeat.

Later days,
Halo.

  1. Yes, they are intense. One of the heaviest bands around, they are truly unique for being “narco-satanicos”.
