Gig Review – 3 Inches of Blood, Camden Barfly, 13th of November

Support:
Chthonic

Oh yeah, I love 3 Inches, their 2nd and 3rd albums are cheesy classic metal crossed with thrash and black metal. Their 1st album could be great but the production is dire and lets them down.

So I tried to miss the support as I just wasn’t in the mood but I did catch them. I was quite happy actually. Chthonic are Taiwanese black metal and were mildly entertaining and I got the most animal merch from them. It was papercraft versions of the band which I will make and put pics online soon.

Now 3 Inches of Blood had cancelled the two dates before this and the two after it as their drummer had broken his elbow (not in a fight with a member of Saxon which also meant he was sacked) so this was with a replacement drummer and was a severely shortened setlist. It was still an animal gig even with the replacement had only one practice with them. They ripped through the standard tracks and also had time for a quick cover. Apparently never played outside of North America they did Zeppelin’s The Immigrant Song and it seemed to be almost written for them.

A great gig and I’m sure they’ll back early next year once they have a new drummer and hopefully they’ll play for longer and maybe, dare I say it, somewhere bigger.

Setlist:

  1. Trial of champions
  2. Revenge is a vulture
  3. Night Marauders
  4. Goatrider’s Hoard
  5. Immigrant Song (cover)
  6. Deadly sinners

Later days,
Halo.
