Foo Fighters at Apollo victoria Jun 2006

Foo Fighters, Wed, 14 Jun 2006 21:39:01, Apollo victoria, London, The Event on Last.fm.

From a Gig Review post:
Well first and probably last time I will be in this venue. Usually hosting musicals and the ilk but since booting out Movin’ Out early (I think) they were going to be empty for the summer while waiting for Wicked to start in Sept so in step the Foos. The venue itself reminded me of those proper theatre venues (i.e. NOT the Olympia with seats for some crap panto). I think it could be described as a large version of The Gate or a small Gaiety.

This is only the second time the Foos have gone out to play an acoustic show. Not only a part of the build up to their show in Hyde Park on the 17th(review of this show will appear after this) but also their US Afoostic shows, an entire acoustic tour of the US. The sound was great for what is not the venues type of thing. Anyway the Foos tonight were:
David “The Man” Grohl
Taylor “Not even the best drummer in his own band” Hawkins
Nate “I’m a little quiet” Taylor
Chris “Shifty” Shiflett
but also has:
On piano – Robbie Jackie
On various including lead vox – Petra Haydn
On guitar – Pat Smear
On guitar – Drew Hester
On guitar – BB (a roadie)
That’s 9 Foos and definitely not a cooks/broth situation.

I’ll admit I was unsure about this show, I don’t really like the acoustic disc from In Your Honour but this is a Foos show(#8 for me) and they are always great. It started well not at the full blast you expect from the Foos though it slowed down after a while(but it is acoustic) but it ended on a real high and I left with a head splitting smile on my face. Setlist is below. It was a fantastic show and if they bring afoostic back to Europe I will be there no rock show but still worth every penny(don’t talk about that, ended up quite expensive for my pocket). Next review is their rock show in Hyde park, it’ll be a doozy.

Later days,
Halo
