As the bells of doom toll

Since QOTSA last week I’ve been pretty busy volunteered two nights for Masque Of The Red Death and went to Leicester to see Aoife, Leo and Erin. The volunteering was good craic as usual and got a chance to see the finale one night which is pretty cool. The trip to Leicester was relaxing and it was great to see Erin, she’s grown so, much since we last saw her. She was a little freaked out by me when Aoife picked me up in the car and I was sitting on Daddy’s seat but she got over that. We just hung out and caught up with each other with a quick lap of town on Saturday and a goo at a craft fair on Sunday with lunch in an Italian restaurant before I jumped on the train back to London. They are working on buying a house at the mo but there is slow down at the moment so won’t move in till the new year. I’ll see ’em again at Xmas but will have to pop up again once they’ve moved in.

Actually to get to Leicester I had to go through the new St Pancras station and I got some photos (along with a load of other amateurs with bigger cameras) which I’ll throw up on Flickr soon. Actually the train up was great as there is a electric outlet at every two seats so I just plugged in my DS and played the new Zelda on it all the way up and used no battery power. On the way back I decided to plug in my MP3 player to make sure it was charged up and stayed on the DS’s battery power.

On Thursday my headphones gave out, the connection between the cord and the jack is fubared (as usually happens) and didn’t get a chance to replace them till the morning of my trip up to Leicester so traipsed into Oxford St and HMV and grabbed a pair of HD205s, so far them seem quite good. They are sealed (unlike the old ones which were an open design which improves the bass sound) which means external noise doesn’t leak in as much and a little tight so far but comfortable. I will probably get the old pair fixed (HD415s), they are perfectly fine and the Headphone Hospital suggests I can get them repaired for under a tenner. I’ll check that out after Xmas when I get home as two good pairs of headphones would be great.

I’m heading back to Ireland on Friday and with gigs (Get In The Ring on Tuesday, Imperial Leisure on Thursday) and more volunteering (Monday and Wednesday) I have had to pack tonight, that’s done … OK just remembered had to go throw on a wash so there isn’t much left here while I’m away… that’s done. Looking forward to being back home for Xmas and the holiday in Budapest. Not much planned so far over Xmas, seeing Adrian and Mary on the 15th and will see Aoife and Leo again on Xmas eve when they are back in Lusk. Of course I’ll see lots of Al but anyone else who knows me, ya know my number/email address (no I’m not on FaceBook).

Work is ticking over with a few things being worked on of course I’ll keep an eye on my email (much to Sarah’s chagrin) but don’t think there’ll be much to do as everyone is winding down and with us all being academics Xmas is quite long as the universities all close.

Anyway drop us a comment if you want to meet up for Xmas. I’m going to try and meet a few I didn’t get to see last year.

Later days,
Halo.

  1. Hope those Sennheiser’s are better than mine… I got Bose Quiet Comforts (noise cancelling) in Hong Kong to replace my 80euro Sennheiser’s. There’s a major difference between them.

  2. So you’re gonna throw al’s macbook in the danube if he uses it over HIS holidays but it’s perfectly fine for you to be a dork and check your work emails over YOUR holidays. if al wasn’t up to his piercings in college crap there’d be a tirade of abuse….

  3. Bollocks I’ve never brought my laptop to say Ljubljana, Glasgow etc I check my mail at the weekends but if I’m on a week long holiday work can take a run and jump, you know that.
