Beginnings are delicate things

So I’m in the new place now two weeks. We’ve internet sorted since Wednesday, got BT and the connection is quite good but the wireless can be a little flaky but I think that is due to the line being checked and the thick walls in the flat. My desk is in direct line of sight so when I’m sitting at it I get great speeds sometimes sitting up in bed or even in the room with the router connection drops, grrrrr.

We have no TV to speak of, I’m currently sitting in front of a 32″ Flat Screen CRT watching the aftermath of the Ireland Vs France 6 Nations game and we could barely make out the score that was in the top left the reception is so bad. We get no freeview so we’ve booked Sky which will turn up Wed week so that should be great.

I’m just back from An Epic Movie from the same guys as gave us Scary Movie and all those “parodies”. I’ve seen two of the Scary Movies(the first one because Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back was a trailer to it in the states so went along to it) and they were OK, I smiled a few times and liked the *very* occasion intelligent moment. However if you have an hour and a half of your life you wish to waste then this is the movie for you it was terrible, unispired and one dimensional. Waste of time.

Turlough was over for a few days (his flight was delayed on Thursday so that was wasted) so we hung out had a few drinks, bought stuff we didn’t need (but wanted 🙂 I now own Thundercats Season 1 Part 1) and generally had a good laugh. He’ll be back.

He brought a CD and some news with him 😀 Dave, me old mate from HMV, and his band have released their album (which I knew about). They are Era Vulgaris and the CD is called What Stirs Within. I’ve given it a few spins and it is really good. Kinda prog/trash is the sound, the tracks are all quite different and well worth splashing the cash. The CD is all HMV’s UK and Ireland, with it being online for a very sensible £8.99. Anyone in Dublin however is asked to “BUY STUFF” (and the CD) from Sentinel who are under Flip beside the Central Bank. Tommy probably has it too in SoundCellar.

The news however is that Coldwar are heading into the studio. Anyone who’s lived in Dublin and been on the scene have heard of Coldwar. Once a crusty punk band on their last release In The Rays Of The Dying Sun they had a new drummer (my mate, and Turlough’s boss, Marty) and they sound now like one of the heaviest extreme metal bands I know. I can’t wait to hear this new stuff.

Actually last weekend Philip popped down from Oxford to go see Sheep On Drugs, I decided to go along so in the end we had a mini DCU meet up with Alex, Sean and Emma joining us in The World’s End before and after the gig. I got some photos of them and the support act(Trauma Pet, shit) which I will throw up on my Flickr during the week. I may even get a Pro account on it (so I can display more than 200 pics and have loads of sets as opposed to three at the mo.)

Still loving the MacBook, the old dos games (finished Monkey Island 1 & 2, working on Discworld) and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess(20% done, it aint easy ya know, just been propelled into the desert to the East of Hyrule).

Link of the day: Lego Bowser Brilliant 😀

Later days,
Halo.
