Before the sea was built

So I’m back from Budapest. Obviously for work, was a good conference in work terms, three days of an exhibition space stand with lots of interest. I’ll have some pics up on the GridPP website during the week.

Outside the work stuff it was a good laugh. An early night if you got home at 2am, some of the NGS lot (even one of the really high up guys there) made it back one night at 5am. I got screwed over in a tourist trap restaurant on the Monday night but learned my lesson so after that it was fine, good food, cheap and the beer was cheap too (not great though). Had some great fun, sitting in cafes and bars just shooting the breeze until the staff had their coats on and looked like they wanted to go home. Also met the woman I’ll be working with in EGEE next year (hopefully) and she’s pretty cool, a goth of all things but nice all the same.

I did get some time to see Budapest, did a bus tour (only nodded off once) and then just wandered around the city getting my bearings. Sarah and I are going back at Xmas hopefully with Al and Anais which should be fun.

This weekend I’ve done very little, just relaxing. Went to the cinema and saw two very good films; Day Watch and Control. Day Watch is the second part of a Russian trilogy about the constant battle between dark and light others a great action flick and stands on its own (I never saw Night Watch). Control is the new Biopic about Ian Curtis from Joy Division. It’s directed by Anton Corbjin (the photographer) and is black and white and it is class. Kicking around? Go watch them both. No time to watch them? Quit your job/college and go see them ASAP.

Tomorrow I’m off to see Raging Speedhorn on the first date of the tour supporting "Before The Sea Was Built" which is also the first release from RSH Mk2(as I call them) and now the stuff is written for Bloody Kev’s voice. It will be good to see him singing his own stuff. Gurdy and I might be hanging out beforehand but Ian won’t be at the gig but he is now a proud father of a little William.

Later days,
Halo.
